The Eastern Market Special Use Area is defined by the legislation that governs the Market. The Special Use Area is within the jurisdiction of various governmental and non-governmental organizations, which include Ward 6 Councilmember Charles Allen, Advisory Neighborhood Commission 6B, Capitol Hill Business Improvement District, and Eastern Market Main Street.

The legislation enables the Eastern Market Community Advisory Committee (EMCAC), which provides recommendations for market operations. EMCAC holds monthly public meetings, where the public can engage in the process.

This program is being funded, partially or fully, through the District of Columbia Executive Office of the Mayor - Office of the Deputy Mayor for Planning and Economic Development.
